January
report:
So Christmas and New Year have
just past; the time is going too fast!!!
December 10 to December 13, all exchange students went to Walt Disney
World in Orlando. We went to 4 parks: Disney Studio, Magic Kingdom,
Epcot and Animal Kingdom. We really had fun in the parks, and
afterwards we went back to the hotel; we lived in a Disney hotel 4 and
4 students together. One night we had pizza and a pool party. And we
got a cool Rotary/Disney t-shirt.
For
Christmas my host mom´s family came to her house. Her grandchildren
got a Wii for Christmas, so we played wii most of the time. December
24 (Christmas in Denmark) we went to the beach. It is the first time I
have been on the beach at Christmas. And I also went in the pool, but
it was kind of cold. December 25 I opened my presents and we had the
big Christmas dinner that night. So I had a good and different
Christmas this year.
During
the Christmas break, most of the exchange students went to Bellina´s
house. We took the train and bus to a mall one day. The next day we
went to down town Miami; it was so pretty at night. We had a really
good time at Bellina´s house.
The New
Year´s party we celebrated at Marco’s house. It was really fun and we
stayed overnight to January 1st. We saw the ball in Time
Square drop on the TV. And most of the evening and night we were
sitting outside. It was nice to celebrate the New Year party together
with the other exchange students.
April report:
The time
is flying
I have
done so many things since the last time.
I went to Hawaii, where I had a really good time. We went kayaking,
snorkeling, and on a boat ride. Hawaii is paradise with sun, palm
trees, nice water and beautiful beaches. And of course the volcano was
just the finish.
Two
weeks ago I went to New York & Washington D. C. We were lucky with the
weather, nice spring weather; I felt like I was home. New York was
amazing, tall buildings there never end when you look up, the yellow
taxi´s are everywhere and Central park where people just relaxed from
New York´s busy daily life. I felt I was in a movie. I love NY.
Washington D.C. was more quiet, and green. It was just pretty. I
realized Washington has lots of history, and important buildings. We
saw the white house, the Grant Memorial, the capitol building and
Washington Monument. I enjoyed my trip to the capital of America.
Last
weekend I went to Miami the whole weekend. I was visiting Key Biscayne
Rotary club from Thursday to Saturday. I did my presentation Thursday
morning, I went to University of Miami, I had a class, a business
class, it was really fun to try a class in a university. I walked
around on the university, everything looked so nice. It was kind of a
little city full with young people.
I went on a boat ride to Miami and around Key Biscayne. The area was
really pretty; I saw a lot of big houses and nice boats. Saturday
morning I was on a bike ride together with the woman I was staying
with. We biked to the lighthouse on Key Biscayne and back.
Saturday
noon I went to orientation. We were staying at Diane´s house. We had a
really good time all inbounds and out bounds together. |

So I have had my first Thanks giving and it was great.
Back home In Denmark we don’t celebrate Thanks- giving, it´s only an
American holiday. I celebrated my Thanksgiving together with my host
mom’s daughter, Evelyn and hers husband Don.
I went to the west coast of Florida to a island called
Casey Key. it is the home at Don´s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heap.
I was on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico Thanksgiving
day where I found a lot of shark´s teeth. I wanted to go swimming, but
it was so cold and windy, the waves were really big. We went to a
country club to eat Thanksgiving dinner. I could eat all the food I
wanted. It was really cool, lots of tables with good food and dessert.
It was delicious
J after
a good Thanksgiving dinner we watched a football game on the TV. Mrs.
and I played Chinese checkers.
Friday I went duck hunting in north everglades together
with Evelyn, Don and two other guys. We took the airboat and found a
good place. We all jumped into the water/marsh. I was concerned there
might be an alligator near me. But they told me I was safe and I felt
safe because they had guns. We got only one duck, but it was fun, and
it was my first time going hunting. But it was so cold; I never
thought it would be so cold in Florida. I was wearing three shirts, a
really heavy coat, two pairs of pants, big socks and tennis shoes. The
outside layer of clothes was camouflage so the ducks would not see us.
But I was still really cold.
My new host mom has a kayak, and she has never tried it
before, so we put the kayak in the canal so I could try it. It took
only 5 minutes and I was a professional; it was really fun.
And now with Christmas coming, it is so weird for me; I
always have a cold and freezing Christmas in Denmark. So I don’t
really feel the Christmas atmosphere, because I am going around in
shorts and watching all the Christmas things and Santa Claus; but I
hope it will come. And here in Florida there are lots of plastic
Christmas trees. I will get a different Christmas this year, but I am
sure it will be a good Christmas.

We don't really have Halloween in Denmark, so I was very exciting for
the Halloween, I had heard about it should be very big holiday in
America. The week before Halloween went Arnaud, Aneta, Marco, will and
me to
Halloween haunted trail in pompano. It was a garden,
where you have to go around in scary scenes, it was not so big, but it
was really good. Saturday night need they help in haunted trail so
Arnaud and I went to the park. It was really fun, to help, because I
saw all the people be scary.
Thursday night before Halloween
went I to a big church together with Arnaud and his host mom Susan and
her friend. There was 3 difference Halloween land, it was really cool,
and big.
Friday before Halloween, went I
to Orlando together with my host mom, host sister and her friend and
Arnaud. First was we in Sea World, we try all the rollercoaster, and
we saw sea lion show, shamu show, it was so good. At the night went we
to universals studio, there was 8 houses with a topic, but we was only
in 3 houses because there was so many people. But it was very scary.
It was a really good night.
Saturday night, Halloween
night. I went to trick or track down of my street and back again
together with my host sister. I get lots of candy. At the Halloween
night went I to Halloween party together with my host family. I have
a awesome Halloween.
Last Friday vent I to the
homecoming game at the school. And my school lost again, we don’t have
a good football team. But it was fun I meet lots of my friends, and we
have fun.

I came to Pompano Beach august 12th, and I
love it. My host family lives on canal, and has a boat in the canal.
It is a real nice and beautiful place. And my host family is very nice
people, I am lucky.
I have started in the Pompano Beach high school, and
it is very different from school in Denmark. I have on 4 classes here
in America. I take keyboard/piano, American history, math and drama. I
start in the school 7:00 o’clock and the day ends at 15:00 o´clock. It
is a long day, but so have we free every Friday from school. Three day
weekend, not bad. After school I have joined two clubs.
On the weekends I sometimes go to the beach, one day I
tried board paddling and snorkeling. Another day my host mom and I
were on a boat trip to the ocean, where we jumped into the ocean and
swam.
One morning I rode on the bike to the café on the beach
together my host parents and Brenda (host mom´s sister) so we ate
breakfast on the café, at the same time we could look on the ocean,
it was fantastic.
In the time I have been here, I have experienced many
things. I have been to baseball game together with Arnaud and John
Diprato and his wife. And I went golfing together with Arnaud and
John, it was real funny. And I went on a boat trip together with my
host family. I hope I get many more experiences.
I am very happy that I was so lucky to come to Pompano
Beach in Florida. |
