Discover South Florida Weekend

October 10 - 12, 2008

The District 6990 students got a chance to get together for the first time as a full group since the orientation in August, and they took full advantage of it.  This weekend was scheduled to have them get to know a little about a part of the area where they will be spending a year - a truly unique part of Florida and the world.

This weekend would not have occurred without the generosity and hospitality of two Rotarians - Diane Landsberg who opened her home and her heart to 11 of our students.  The twelfth, Supas, already lives there!!  Diane provided food, lodging and some motherly advice and it was most fully appreciated.

The other Rotarian was "Captain" Todd Lary, who not only orchestrated the events of the weekend, but also hosted the students on his boat Sunday for a tour of Miami, some swimming off of Key Biscayne, and a trip past "Stiltsville" - a unique group of houses IN Biscayne Bay!
