Enrico's Report

May 5, 2008

Hey everybody,

Over here, in the Bahamas, everything is going all right as usual. It has been 2 months since I have written my last report. The topic of this report is the USA Rotary Eastern Adventure Trip! Ready to take off with me??? Let's go...

I had to go to Ohio 2 days before the journey started and during the flight, I made a stop in Chicago to change airplane... Guess what? I got lost in that huge airport! Lol... In Columbus, Ohio, a fantastic family, who was hosting a Brazilian exchange student, offered to host me. Those 2 days were enough to have a good time with my temporary host family. Additionally, it was the first time I experienced really cold weather and saw snow in MY LIFE! Of course I had a snowball fight and made a snowman. It was really exciting and remarkable! Max and I got to meet the other 98 exchange students in a pizza party at the hotel.

On the first day of our journey we had a long 7 hour drive to Washington D.C. by bus, the big crew was separated in 2 buses. In my bus all the Brazilians and some of my other friends went into the back of the bus and then we just partied! We made a quick stop in Pennsylvania for lunch. We spent 3 great days in Washington, where we got to see: the National Monument, a couple of War Memorials (which are very impressive and sad), Abraham Lincoln Memorial, a billion Museums, the Capitol and obviously the White House.

On our way to New York, we passed the humongous bridge between NY and NJ. After we got out of the congested traffic, we finally arrived at a place where we got on a boat to go to Ellis Island. We then went to the Immigration Museum and the Statue of Liberty (a gift from France). The museum and the Statue of Liberty were really interesting. In movies, the Statue of Liberty seems a lot taller, but it was very small and fat (My host brother CJ said it was probably the Statue of Obesity LOL). I liked it a lot and I think that it is a great monumental representation of the USA.

We went on a tour around NYC. On this tour we saw; the Cathedral, a wonderful Church, the Empire State Building, Central Park, the place where the WTC collapsed, a bunch of movies settings, etc. Then of course we headed to the most packed place ever, the Time Square! Everybody went crazy with all those big stores, obviously because NY is a completely crazy place due to it’s over population. People rush to places and you bump into them all the time.

We all went to a Brazilian Restaurant. We were so excited that we couldn't even order lol. We tripped right out; you feel so good when you go to a place just like home. The TV was on a Brazilian channel, the radio was playing Brazilian songs and the food was simply FANTASTIC, we stuffed our faces! I almost exploded! The money we spent on this was really worth it.

Welcome to Boston, Massachusetts! This place is the most beautiful place ever. I want to live there. We had fun over there & walked everywhere. In this day we had more free time and I met plenty Brazilian people. Well, you see Brazilians all over the world. We are a pest lol! Afterwards, we drove to Auburn where we spent just a day. We got to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Salem Museum (the place with the most witches), it was very exciting! Saturday night was the last night together with everybody. A talent show took place at the hotel; people were dancing, playing piano, and singing, it was great! All the Brazilians sang a song it was funny and noisy of course! We signed each other's t-shirt and took many pictures.

The next day we went to Niagara Falls! I was very excited to see it, especially because it is right on the border of USA and Canada. It is freaking pretty man!!! It was even more beautiful when it snowed. However, the Brazilian Water Falls beat Niagara Falls LOL! Anyway... at least I saw Canada. I tried to throw a snowball over there but it was too far. Here I literally FROZE!!!
Unfortunately, those 12 days had gone like a blink of an eye. When it was time to say goodbye it was really rough but that is how life is... THIS TRIP IN PARTICULAR WAS THE BEST, THE MOST INTERESTING, THE MOST PERFECT TRIP THAT I HAVE EVER DONE UNTIL NOW! As you noticed, I always say that the trips I have done were the best in my life. But this one was definitely "OFF THE CHAINZZZ!!!"

Finally I arrived back into FLL and went in John's house, where Max and I normally have fun until we drop. During our stay at John's house, Cj (my 1st host bro) tagged along with us. We went downtown to a super informative Body Exhibition in Las Olas, to the Saw grass Mall where we met Mameow and Nico again. Then guess what? John, Max, Nico, Mameow and I went to a Brazilian restaurant in Miami, which is owned by my friend from Brazil. You can see that in March I ate a lot of Brazilian food. Now, I can say that I killed the irresistible desire that I had lol. I was glad because everyone enjoyed the food. Max loved the Brazilian beans, which caused him to... (Well you can ask him hahaa). I was supposed to go to the Tennis Tournament that was going on in Miami with Cindy, but I couldn't make it. On the night before our last night, the guys went to the Bowling Alley. However I couldn't go because I had to study for the International exam TOEFL which I took the following day. I needed to take this exam to be accepted into Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia. I hope I did well...

Did you enjoy the journey? Now see you soon on my next report that is coming up...
ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU VERY MUCH ROTARY AND PARENTS FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME, THIS OPPORTUNITY IS UNIQUE!!!!!
Peace and God bless all!
