Enrico's Report

February 26, 2008

Hey everybody! How is everyone doing?

I am definitely good! Exchange student life is perfect; you are going to agree with me reading my report below…

Just one month has passed since the last report, although it was enough time for me to go away two times lol!
Max and I left Freeport one week before Sea camp thus, we could stay more time with John Aquino and exploit more and more Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. It was simply majestic!!! What can I say about him? He is always hosting us when we go to FLL, the point is; he takes us to all over the city, to Miami, to wonderful restaurants, to enjoyable places and care about us! I am going to thank him one thousand times if necessary! John always picks up Nico to hang out with us, who is a very hilarious person. I laugh so much with him. We went to the Miami Seaquarium, which was incredible! I have never been in something similar to this before. I saw dolphins, sea lions and the killer whale SHOW! I am amazed with these animals' intelligence! Afterwards John drove around Miami Beach showing us the Star Island, where many famous people live and took us to Coconut Grove, I met plenty South American people over there. We also went to the movies to watch Clover Field, a great film! Then one day Max and I went to the Syse family's house, who by the way was my first American family, so I am always keeping in touch and hanging out with them if possible. Bjorn drove us up to Saw Grass to shop a few clothes, that mall is gianormous (giant + enormous by John)!

Sea camp! I went down to Florida Keys in my mommy Billie's car, love you mom! This weekend passed very fast but it was worth every single minute! We swam a lot, went out in the boat, snorkeled, learnt many stuff about ocean, sang around the fire, had an interesting round table discussion, danced Saturday night (the DJ even played Brazilian song man), I got a nice tan lol and the most important thing was; we made new friends and met all the exchange students from the north Florida again! I will not detail all the activities but something that I can say is; this opportunity to meet people from all over the world, a bunch of countries in one small spot, it was FANTASTIC, and we had a fabulous time! I really made good friends there, persons that are going to be UNFORGETTABLE! I wish we had more time together, I am missing them badly. Well, now the world is small for me!! On Sunday, we went further down to Key West, which is such a pretty place! We had lunch in Hard Rock Café and chilled out over there! Then we drove back to FLL.

My life in the second family is being amazing! I have so much fun with them, they are very cool! I am learning a lot with David, he is a man who knows a bit of everything. The fact of he had taken me out in the boat to lobster, fish and catch conch was new for me. Because I had no clue about it. What an interesting thing is catching lobster; how he hooks them up. Believe me, when he dives he brings up thousands of lobsters, and then we have to cut their body off and keep the tail, because we eat just the tail. His son, Aren explained to me carefully how to do it; therefore, I do not screw it up! Because if we keep a tail that does not accord to the certain measurement, a very high ticket is given and they lock up the boat. So, after a hard and tired day, David cooked a sea platter, which is composed by fish, lobster and conch, simply delicious! Oh Gosh! He cooks every dish very well; I am eating excessively that is why I went back to the gym lol! One time he cooked a Brazilian dish; rice, beans, salad, meat and mashed potatoes. Boy, that was so tasty, he got very close to my home's food, and I tripped right out! He took me to the National Park to know those famous Caves, as well. In East End of Grand Bahama, where he has a property by the beach. Fiorella, my host Peruvian sister is more gorgeous each day; speaking many words in English nobody can stop her!! As I said before Terry is an artist and I can tell you WHAT an artist is she! We went to an Art Show, where she exposed two beautiful paintings!

On February 8th, was Max's birthday, now he is 17! I hope he settles down lol!! He had a small party in his house with a few close friends, it was fun!

Sports day was going on in my school last week, so we did not have classes. A dance day took place in our gym, it was so funny! The way Bahamians girls dance is completely dirty, sorry. Nevertheless, I joined it anyway, and I had a lot of fun!

The Rotary Club that is hosting me is amused in plenty community activities! We served in the Dream Girls play; remember that movie which was indicated to Oscar? It was a wonderful performing!! In addition, two weeks ago a Rotary Ball party went on in Our Lucaya. It is an annual party organized by the three Rotary Clubs in Freeport. Special guests from USA were invited. Congratulations! Everything was graceful and stylish!!! Additionally, last Sunday Max, I and some members of Rotary went to a hotel to warmly welcome and help a group of students coming from a College in Florida, which requires them to research some stuff in their specific area, here in Grand Bahama.

I still keep in touch with my first host family. Max and I went to West End of Grand Bahama with them. It is a Bahamian program. Go to West on Sundays to chill out with friends by the beach. It was relaxing!!

Currently, I am in mid term break time yet. Yeah I am so happy, no school! However, it goes just until February 26th. Guess what? Steven, my counselor took advantage of it and took Max and me to Nassau just for two days! The trip was very quick, otherwise AWESOME!! That was my second time in Nassau, but there is no comparison because Steven's aim was, show us the cultural and historical side of Nassau, which in he did a great job! I got to know three Forts, the highest peak in there, a very pretty garden, 66 steps (a place where slaves opened when they were fleeing in the past), downtown, the Harbor, statues such as; Hercules, Queen Victoria and Christopher Columbus. I have been acquiring so much new information and experiencing good moments. We stayed in the Sheraton Resort, man is huge and the best place to rest! Hahaha Max is so dummy that he could get lost in the stairways LOL! Everything including the resort, the room, etc… was appreciable, especially when Steven took us to a very famous restaurant to dine, POOP DECK, yummy! As an entertainment we went to Atlantis; the best, biggest and most expensive hotel in The Bahamas, oh yeah he had a good time! We went in all the slides and in the two aquariums that surround the entire hotel. Wherever I go this trip and Steven will be in my memory… Steven, you are the best counselor ever, I will be always thankful!!

I am getting more confidential with my English every day that goes! I do not have any claims I am embracing all the opportunities and enjoying a lot!!

I cannot wait anymore for the big trip in USA Eastern that is coming up next two weeks! Oh, man I have never been so excited, as I am now haha!

THANK YOU PARENTS, MY LORD AND OF COURSE ROTARY ONCE AGAIN! I JUST LOVE IT!
SEREI AGRADECIDO ETERNAMENTE POR TUDO, TUDO!!!

Peace and God bless all!
Take care…
Enrico. =)))
