May 2008
Heyy Everyone!
Hola!
Like Lindsay, I also was reading Matteo’s report. It is really true!
Life here in Ecuador has been "totalmente incredible!" (Really amazing)
I am so thankful to Rotary for this opportunity of a lifetime.
On March 31st, my vacation days ended and I started a new school year at the Military high school. It made me remember my first day there in August 2007; everyone was talking to me and I barely understood half of what they were saying to me. Now, I understand almost everything that they are saying to me. It feels sooo good being able to understand another language. My new classmates are so nice to me. They are helping me to improve my Spanish and I help them little by little with their English. Everyday, they invite me over to meet their families, to hang out, go out together to dance or sometimes even just for a walk in the town center. This month, one of my exchange friend’s mother is going to have a Day of Different Cultures in her Elementary school. She wants me to represent The Bahamas! I have to speak in Spanish (of course!) and print pictures and stuff to illustrate to the people. I can’t wait! I already know that I will do well!
Because of Rotary, I now have a home away from home where people are waiting for me with open arms and
I can never express how thankful I am for this opportunity that I have.
I am so proud to say that ‘I am a Rotary Youth Exchange Student!’
