Well The Jungle
was quite interesting...apart from waking up real early in the
morning, falling three times really hard on my behind, or getting eatin
alive by the moscos...it was a great experience really!
It started different from the other trips we had becuase we traveled
plane. And also our plane was delayed.while waiting,we ate a delicous
lunch with some rico chocolate. The plane ride was only about 30 min but
it was quite relaxing. We arrived and becuase we arrived later the plans of
navigating upstream the Napo river were cancelled so we drove up in bus.
So since everyone was tired when we got there we just went over some quick
rules(you know no alcohol...girls with boys that kinda stuff) and we eat
dinner which was very satisfying.
Everyday consited of meals that reminded me of home in the Bahamas and
working at the Yachana High School.Work at the school consisted of
harvesting, digging, making bracelets, and other sorts of labour. My
favorite was cutting the bamboo for the windows. We hiked alot which wasnt
really one of my favorites but it was breathtaking once one arrives to the
very top. Photo opportunities were endless. I remember when we
participated in the cleansing ceremony to be liberated of bad energies....interesting.And
also when we were taught fishing methods and using a blow gun and spear.
That really made me feel like I was in the jungle. Aslo the last hike we
had on the last day was really hard...We got sweaty, tired...you name it.
Couldnt wait until it was over. But of course depature was sad. We had a
last opportunity to view the beauty and the Amazon Rainforest vastness
before the flight back to Quito. I cant believe I went to the Jungle. |
