Donnae's Report

November 3, 2006

Hello from Ecuador! Things are going good for me. I must tell you about my dance group. I attend Tropical Dance mostly known for their salsa, but we also do hip hop reggae and more!At this school I am in the special group that does presentations and they also competed in Austrai last year and won the group salsa competition! We had a first presentation and it went great. I even had a solo.I was so happy my host family came to support me. Its kind of special to have people screaming your name and clapping for you in a foreign country. I will send the pics later. My spanish has also gotten better especially becuase I practice alot at home and at dance classes. At first I mostly smiled and nodded( you know ...when you donīt understand) School has its good and bad days. Of course everyone wants to practice their English no matter how much I tell them thats not why I came. But I still try to speak in Spanish anyway!
I will soon have to make a speech and a presentation about the Bahamas at the next Roatry meeting hmmm that should be interesting. I do feel a little speciall being the only one here from the Bahamas but at times I wish I had someone else to know and share my culture with me with others. I have always been a proud Bahamian but now that I am on exchange I am even more proud to be apart my country. Pues..mas venir! More to come!
