Cyril's Report

October 7, 2006

Good morning to everyone,

I am Cyril DURING from France, I 'm here in South Florida for 2 months now. I live in Fort Lauderdale in Rio Vista precisely. Jeff Shaffner and Susan Clark are my host Family.

My fist thought when I landed here, was "Wow it's hot and humid in here". Nobody said to me that I had just arrived in the Hurricanes season. One month later I experienced my first Hurricane which became tropical storm by the way. I could have my first hurricane vacation: that was quiet cool.

I go to the cardinal gibbons H.S. This is a really good school with some really nice students and good teachers (very helpful at the beginning when I was a little lost). This is a lot different in comparison to France: here it's most interesting and friendly. In fact for now I succeed in all my courses notably in literature and composition where I had a lot of A. I joined the French club and soon the soccer team.
My impressions about America are very positive; I discovered a new, friendly and interesting culture.

I went in a lot of activities like flying, boating and going to a dolphin game with Jeff and susan, going in an exposition of old cars, doing a balade in Harley and going in some good restaurant (and some not so good like Mc Donalds) with my conselor John Aquinos.

Since I am here I also cooked some real french meal to my family and they seemed to like it !

To conclude this report I'd like to say "Merci" to the downtown Fort Lauderdale rotary club for sponsoring me, in spite of the recent misfortunes with other French students. I will do anything to alley suspicion.

Thanks for reading me and "bonne journée à vous tous".
