Christopher's Report

October 20, 2006

I love the Rotary meetings of my host Club Weston. The Weston Rotary Club always meets Thursday mornings at 7.30 in the morning. The location is in the nice Weston Hills Country Club. I have been now to six Rotary meetings and I love them. The Rotarians have their own meeting room in the back of the Country Club. Because the Rotary Club Weston is a very big Club with about 100 members the room is farely big. There are about 8 round tables for 9 persons each. Then in the front there is a higher level with a long table but nobody never sits there. From there the joung Club President speaks to the members. Then in the back there is a long table with a beautiful breakfast buffet. There is cofe, tea, milk, nice fruit juices and cereals. Then there are bagels and butter and marmelades. There is also some warm stuff like sausages or french toast or scambled eggs. The best is the fruit like the melones and strawberries and grapes. The Rotarians pay 15$ Dollars for this nice breakfast and farely anybody really haves it. Mostly they come and get a cofe or tea. The Rotarians are dressed very legere here. In Germany my sponsor Club always meets in the evening with a big meal and all the Rotarians are very dressed up.

When you come in here into the room there is a Greeter standing who greets you and says hello. Then you have to go and get your name signed in at the desk. I always write my name into returning Guest. Then when the President hits on to a bell the meeting starts. Usually they pray in the beginning but soon after the meeting gets to his topics. I have learned a lot in the meetings about the Rotary Foundation and other interesting things. The meetings end is always the four ways test. Then everybody leaves for work. Then I go to the buffet with my tupperware box and I load my bag with bagels and fruit. Then I get driven to school. At school everybody is waiting for me already because they know that I bring food on Thursdays. I really love the meetings. The members of this Club are much jounger than in German Clubs. In German Clubs most members are quite old. And in some German Clubs there are no women allowed to become a member. For that they do evening meetings once a month where the husbands bring their wifes.

But I am really looking forward to the District Conference in Key West.

Thank you Rotary Club Weston for having me at your meetings.
