OK....So
I`ve been here a month already...Wow....Where to start....I`ll juss star
from the beginning.
August 3, 2006...I woke up early and finished packing for my year away...I
dont think i finished until about 5 minutes before we left...Once we
arrived at the airport i said my goodbyes and went through security..After
i got through security i found out that my plane was delayed so i sat and
waited...My plane finally arrived about an hour and a half later....My
adventure had finally started...I went from Fort Lauderdale to
Detroit...That flight was ok...i slept for most of it....When i arrived in
Detroit i was hoping that i would see some other kids from rotary...no
luck...On the plane ride from Detroit to Amsterdam I wathced 2 movies and
slept a little....Nothing exciting...After i arrived in Amsterdam i
finally met some other exchange students going to Germany...Everyone was
really nice...We all boreded a tiny little plane that would take us from
Amsterdam to Düsseldorf...The plane smelt and was very very very small...I
slept on that plane to...About 45 mins later we had arrived in
Düsseldorf...We collected our baggage and went through "customs"...it was
a door that said customs....WE met our families and went our separate
ways...
Since arriving here in GErmany I have learned how to make bread, and how
to use the public transportation...I live in a small town called Meerbusch
with absolutly nothing to do so it is very important to know how to get
around so you can actually do something...My main transportation is still
a bike eventhough it hurts after a while....Nothing really exciting has
really happened yet except for the fact that i went to the CHOCOLATE
MUSEUM.....That was a dangerous place to take me....I also went to the
Cathedral in Köln...It was beautiful and huge...I will send pics
soon...Other then that i havent really been anywhere....Every Friday i
take the train to Düsseldorf and walk around, do some shopping, and chill
for while...Right know things are very mello and a little boring but I
just started dancing and working out so hopefully things will start to
pick up...
My host family is nice...My host mom is a chiropractor...i have a host
brother who is 17...a host sister who is 19...she is away a school...and a
host sister who is 16 who is on her exchange riight now in Brazil...I have
also met Marit´s (inbound from Germany) family...They are really nice and
funny....I go over and visit the inbound that they have there from Alaska
and visit with them for a while...
School.....School here is so different from back home...First off I ride a
bike to school every morning....i still havent gotten used to that
yet....My classes are Spanish, English, German, Religion, Art, Math,
Geography, Sport, Chemistry....Everyday is a new schedule.....Its really
complicated and if i tried to explain it I would confuse you so i
wont....The kids are nice but they arent very friendly at first...It takes
them a while to warm up to you but everyday things are getting better...I
dont really understand what is going on in the classes for the most part
but i`m slowly understanding more and more...They talk to fast here...
The food here is good but my favorite thing to eat is EIs (ice cream).....thats
my nickname over here....Eis or Tomato because i tried a dried tomato
after my host brother told me not to so ever since then they call me
tomato....O Yea...They like to eat here all the time so you eat
throughtout the day.....
This past Saturday we had out inbound orientation so i got to meet all the
other exchange students in my district. There's about 35 of of so far but
some havent arrived yet....Everyone is so nice and crazy, but in a good
way....Next weekend we have a rotex weekend so that should be fun..I cant
wait to go to that..And at the end of September we get to go on a tour
around Germany for 2 weeks....YAY.....There´s not much more to say at this
point....Everything is good.....Just taking it a day at a time....Until
next time
Tschüss
