Part
4....Almost Done
Paris
Ah Paris....What is there to say about Paris...Well a lot actually but
I am going to sum it up for you as best as I can starting with our bus
ride....
The bus ride started out as a nice normal bus ride from Geneva to
Paris....It was about 9 hours or so....After about 6 hours or so of
driving out head Rotary person got a call on his cell phone....about
20 minutes later he made an announcement to us that we didn’t have
anywhere to stay...Our hostel had booked us for the next weekend and
had no open rooms....Everyone started to freak out.....Calls were
being made to hostels outside of Paris, but none of them had any rooms
available....we had nowhere to stay....So our chaperones made the
decision and told us that we would have to skip Paris and go straight
to Belgium...We had no choice....Everyone was sooo mad and there was a
lot of screaming, crying and cursing on the bus.....Nobody was in a
good mood after that...About 30 minutes later the head guy got back on
to make another announcement...nobody wanted to listen to him....When
he spoke into the microphone he only said two words....can you guess
what he said..... APRIL FOOL’S......We all started screaming and more
crying.....we couldn’t believe that he did that to us....It was such a
mean joke but a good one...So after that whole ordeal we proceeded
onto Paris....Once we arrived everyone was so tired that we all just
went straight to sleep....Well most of us...
Day 1
Our first day in Paris was filled with a lot of sightseeing but first
we woke up early and went to Versailles....We weren’t there for very
long....just a few hours and we didn’t really see that
much....However, when we returned to Paris we went to the Centre
Pompidou, Arc de Triomphe, a castle that I don’t remember the name of,
and the Moulan Rouge ( sorry if I spelled it wrong)......We so many
more things but I just don’t remember all of them....When we had free
time for dinner the took us to the most expensive part of Paris and
gave us 10 euro to go find something to eat....Guess where we all
ended up...McDonalds....How are you going to give us only 10 euros in
the most expensive part of Paris and expect us to find something good
to eat....We were all a little mad but, whatever....Later that night
we went on a little tour in a city on the outskirts of Paris....We
finally arrived back at the hostel at 12 am.....
Day 2
Yet again another early wake up.....Today was also a full day....The
day started with a boat tour of Paris....This was so nice and
relaxing....After the tour we went to the Notre Dame and had a
look....Then some more walking....and then we finally ended up at the
Louvre....We had the option to go in or we could wait outside and
shop....I think we all went in...What was also really nice about it is
that if you are under 18 you get in free....I was happy...We had about
3 or 4 hours of free time to walk through the Louvre....That wasn’t
enough time but we made due....The main attraction that everyone
wanted to see was the Mona Lisa.....there were so many people gathered
in front of the painting....I thought it would be a little bigger then
it was.....They had tight security around the painting....You weren’t
allowed to go within so many feet of it and you couldn’t take any
pictures....After seeing the Mona Lisa a lot of the exchange students
left and went to wait outside for the rest of the time, which by then
was about an hour or so.....The weather was nice out so we found a
spot and we just laid there trying to tan.....that didn’t
happen....anyways, after our free time was over we returned to the
hostel to have dinner and then left again....We had no clue where we
were going but we would eventually find out...After walking for an
hour or so we ended up at the Eiffel Tower.....OMG...It is soooooo big
and pretty....We arrived when it was still a little sunny but within
30 minutes or so it was dark and the Eiffel lit up....I was even
prettier at night.....and then to top that we were told that we were
going up the tower.....Earlier when we asked if we were going up they
told us no, so when they told us we were everyone was so
excited....some people even cried......We had to wait in line for
almost an hour to go up the tower....we didn’t go all the way up
because it was too foggy and you couldn’t see anything but the view
from the first floor was absolutely amazing....I never could have
imagined being in Paris and going up the Eiffel.....Around 12 am we
started to head back to the hostel....everyone was still talking about
the Eiffel and everything...Now you would think that after returning
to the hostel we would sleep....o no....not exchange students....in
our hostel there was a little club and that’s where we all went....We
stayed there until about 4 am, which was when we were told to go to
bed by Rotex....so at 4 am we all went to sleep and at 7 am we were
woken up by pounding on the door.....Talk about no sleep.....
Day 3
Today after we were woken up so early we had to pack, eat breakfast
and load the bus....It was now off to Belgium.....
