Chantae's Report

May 3, 2007

OK...Soooo,  where to begin....I Know...Get ready for a long couple of reports....

Since my last report a lot has happened.....To begin..I went on a EURO TOUR....OMG, it was so amazing....we saw soo much and learned so much but of course we pretty much forgot everything we learned but I will try my hardest to remember some things....Lets start with the first day of the tour..

Euro Tour 2007

March 14, 2007....A day many of the Rotary Exchange Students in District 1870 will never forget... It all began when all 56 exchange students met in Duisburg to begin our journey around Europe....At 12 a.m. we all boarded the bus and headed to Prague...Everyone was laughing, talking, playing games...You name it and we were probably doing it...The drive from Germany to Prague was 13 hours long so we had to do something....After many hours of talking and catching up with each other people finally started to go to sleep..Do you know how hard it is to sleep on a bus with 56 people...There is no room for you to sleep...Some people even slept on the floor but later regretted it because they would get stepped...My advice to anyone that will be going on a tour like this..Sit next to someone that will let you lay on them or something...that way you will be a little comfier.....Around 8 am our tour guides woke us up and told us that we were at border control and that we needed to wake up and be quiet..personally I think it would have been better to let us sleep if they wanted us to be quiet...We were at border control for about an hour and a half...It was so horrible to be stuck in a hot bus full of people...Before I go any further I must tell you that our tour guides are “mean” to us meaning that they like to play jokes on us and everything...Our main tour guide went to New Zealand during his exchange year and we have an exchange student from New Zealand...Well at one point he came back to where we were sitting and in a serious voice he told the girl from New Zealand that there was something wrong with her passport and that she was not allowed past the border and that she will have to get off the bus and wait for the car that they have arranged for her to go back home in....She almost started to cry but right before she let out a tear he started to laugh and told her it was a joke...we were all so mad at him but later on we all laughed about what he did....
After we were finally through border control we were on our way to Prague...after a few more hours we finally arrived....We immediately went to our youth hostel (which was pretty sad) and got our rooms situated, had lunch and then left and went to the German Embassy...One we were finished at the German Embassy we went to a church and as we were leaving and heading back to the hostel we say a group of guards walking so we all stopped and took cameras...BIG MISTAKE....While we were taking pictures somebody hit me and my camera fell and broke....First day of the tour and my camera was already broken....Not a good way to start off... I was so mad but I got over it....I just asked people if they would take pictures for me....When we finally got back to the hostel we got ready to go have dinner....We went to an Italian Restaurant....We are in Prague and yet we are having Italian food...there’s something wrong with that.....they told us that Czech food wasn’t that good....After dinner it was back to the hostel and time to relax and sleep.
Day 2 in Prague started very early...We were woken up at 6:30 and then ate and set off for the day...The first thing we did was go the Charles Bridge...After taking a million pictures we proceeded on with a small city tour...We ended up in the town square where we had free time...A few of us went up a tower to see all of Prague at the top...It was absolutely gorgeous....So different from anything I have ever seen....During our walk back to the hostel we stopped at a Jewish graveyard that was for the Jews during WW2. It was the only place they were allowed to be buried....It was so small and crowded. We eventually ended up back at the hostel and went to the same Italian restaurant for dinner....After dinner some of us watched a movie on the computer of an exchange student....Then it was off to bed....
Well I think this has turned out to be a long report (by my standards) and it only covered 2 days....in the following reports I will try to summarize everything even more but its so hard because there is just so much to tell....So I guess until next time..

To Be continued.......
