Carlos' Report

December 26, 2006

Last week was pretty busy. During the nights I did a lot of things with my host father David Long. On Monday night we went to the Rotary Junkanoo rehearsal. The Junkanoo is a very traditional Bahamian Parade and the Rotary Clubs of GBI are participating for second year in a row. So Pelin and I are taking part of this parade and we will be moving our hips at the rhythm of the drums.

On Tuesday night my host father, some other Rotarians and I went to paint pants for the costumes of the Junkanoo parade...that was so much fun and after that one of the Rotarians invited everybody to have steam conch (traditional Bahamian food).

On Wednesday night I went to the Junkanoo rehearsal again and I got pretty tired because early that day I worked out at the gym from 12am to 6pm because my host father forgot to pick me up so I took advantage of it and trained more, which of course was a bad idea ; )

On Thursday evening we went at 6pm again to make the Junkanoo costumes and outfits. I was in charge of glue shoes, and glue pants...of course it was funny but we worked until mid night. It came as a great releif when we finished all the costumes.

On Friday evening I went with my host father to a Christmas party we were invited for...the food was good and being in front of the beach was peaceful.

On Saturday morning I helped some Rotarians to raise some money for the SALVATION ARMY by staring with my Rotary Blazer (with a lot of pins) and ringing the bell of the Salvation Army in front of a big All-purpose Store...Everybody that came thru that door saw me and as they were leaving the store they asked me about my "UNUSUAL BLAZER" and after that they donated money for the Salvation Army. I enjoyed it and I got really tired after all of that ringing stuff, because I was there from 9:30am to 2pm, but I felt very good because I did my good deed for Christmas...LOL..

That's all for now..
