Activities Done

Here, in Belfort, there is not much to do. However, as soon as I arrived, I went to a party on a farm. It was really interesting, for me at least. I saw sheep up close and personal and was offered to sleep beside them that evening. Nonetheless, the farm was beautiful. It had a lake right in the middle of it, and contained the catfish that we ate that night. Now that I recall, I have been to many parties with my host sister and brother. I have been to one in the country side (which was amazing- it was held on a hill, therefore, I could see the rest of the town which laid under the stars) and others at their friends homes. I’ve also been to the “Cinema” to watch ‘La fille de l’eaux’ (Lady in the water) – I had watched it before in English, so it was cool to watch it in French. Hmm, lets see, I also went to a few restaurants, for example, and Italian Restaurant, The Belgian McDonald’s called “Quick” and the regular McDonald’s as well. I have also gone to “Neolaser”, which is an area where you have to fight persons who are not on your team with laser guns (that was interesting). The aim of the game is to help your team get the most points, and my team won!!!  In addition to the things I did, I have visited the Citadel of Belfort and an art Exhibition in Switzerland called “Erotica”. Art pieces by Picasso, Monet and others were featured (oooooh, the art pieces were beyond mind capturing – I truly enjoyed that). Furthermore, I have also been to my FIRST SOCCER MATCH (‘Football’ in France’s case). Now, that was an event I will never forget. Not only did I get to sit in a Soccer Stadium, watch the game and its peculiarities, and cheer for the best team (Sochaux), but I got to meet the players! Imagine that. “Live and Direct!”

Quite contrary to the activities that I have done, I have watched an “Air Balloon” race. That was really interesting as well. Yet, did you know that it was a French man that invented the air balloon? I must say, one sure thing about this exchange is that I learn something new every day. This exchange is certainly the best thing that could have happened to me. Thanks again Rotary.
