The Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of District 1680 here in Belfort, France is quite different from the Rotary Club of Lucaya in Grand Bahama. The meetings are held at night around 8 o’clock for about 3.5 – 4 hours including a dinner. Oh là là!! . And I have also noticed that the Rotary here is mainly for men (yet another cultural difference).

Here in Belfort, there are only two exchange students, myself and Christabelle Grant from New Zealand. However, I believe that this will all change in a few weeks, maybe even days as we are scheduled to have exchange students from Mexico, Australia and Brazil. District 1680, however, I believe consists of all the cities in Franche-Comté, (I am not sure) and so there are more than 2 exchange students in this district at the moment.

District 1680 also has a lot of things planned for the inbounds here in France ( so I was told) and I can not wait to find out what they are. What I do know though, is that there will be a meeting held on the 7th of October for all of the inbounds and the old outbounds in D.1680. Boy, I am EXCITED!!! On the contrary, however, I am happy that Christabelle and I are the only exchange students here, and the fact that Christabelle does not attend my school or lives near me, gives me the opportunity to mainly speak French. Yet, although this Rotary club may not be as exciting as district 6990, I bet the Bus trip we are having to Paris, Dijon, Pont Du Gard, Nimes, Barcelona, Strasbourg, Munich, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Venice, Loano, Cannes, Lyon and Genève will be far better than the “Disney Trip/Sea Camp” (he he he.. ). Yet, I ‘got nuthin’ but love for yall’
