Alicia's Report

January 30, 2007

Hi everybody!!

I'm back again for a little update about how my first month of the new year has gone. Actually this month has been a little slow, so there isn't too much to talk about excpet the normal everyday stuff. So has you found out in my last report, schools here don't get a break from school during the Christmas/New Year's week and now to tell you all why. Starting today is the month-long break we get for the Chinese New Year. Yup, a whole month. The last week of school, last week, was the end of the semester so it was all testing and Thursday I had my Chinese test. On the last ones I hadn't done so well, since I'm not very good at writing, but this last one I got an 86! Awesome, no? On Friday, there wasn't any testing, instead it was a half day dedicated to cleaning, in preparation for the New Year. It has to do with having a fresh start, rid of bad luck, no matter bad the past year has been, or at least that's how they explained it. Also a couple days before we got to do calligraphy, writing the characters for Spring and luck, and another one that represents money coming, on red diamond shaped papers that you hang upside down on your outside door. I'm not too good with that stuff yet....

Most weekend are spents with my classmates and the 3 other exchange students at my school. One weekend, we all went shopping only to find one of our favorite singers in Hualien, singing, and signing autographs but only if you had his CD to get signed. Sucky, but awesome to hear him in person. Last weekend was awesome. One of the Rotary dads rented us a KTV room for a few hours so that was awesome. I'm still not into singing but I love hanging out with everybody and having a good time. Afterwards, we went to his sister's hotel type thing where we had a giant sleepover. When we finally woke up, we went to play basketball, and me and Lora ended up teaching everybody games like 'Doctor, Doctor', 'Big Booty', and hand games like that. It was a lot of fun. Now I'm off to enjoy my break and hopefully my next report will be a whole lot more interesting :D Love you all!!!
