Belen's Very First Report!

March 7, 2006

Hi!!

Ok, why didn't I write a report before?? Because I'm a lazy person as most of the people know me. I'm sorry about that. You know as they say that Latin people are always late, but the majority of time we are there…or we try. Hahaha

Anyway, my days here have been incredible. Even if we all know that sometimes we have bad moments I'm not going to include them because there is not as many as the good moments.

My first host family was a really cool family (the Easton's family). They made me start this whole year with the right foot. Beginning with my host mom that is from Ecuador, actually the same city where I come from. She is crazy as me we had a great time together. My host father was a lot similar to my dad in Ecuador. Their kids were a lot of fun even if I couldn't spend a lot of time with them because of their college. With this family we went through hurricanes and all that fun stuff. We had three great full weeks with out power. We had a lot of BBQ food. And we also celebrate my b-day. All of this was incredible, new and funny. And I'm forgetting to mention my dog-sister Roxy. She is a really nice doggy, sweet, crazy, and she also likes reggeton.

Then I spent two weeks with a nice family also. They are really different because they are all Americans in that house. I went to the King TUT exposition, in Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale, and also with Conny. Also they took me to the boat parade on December. All of this was really nice.

Christmas was totally different from my country. You know that I'm crazy and my family back in Ecuador is also like that, just think about being with 22 or more Belen at the same time.????? Hahahaha. Anyway I had a great time with my counselor's family (John Aquino). They are really nice people (all small as John hihihi), funny and crazy. They have an Italian resemblance and they always do Italian food on Christmas, which was really good. And also Santa brought me cool stuff this year.

Now I'm in a new house since January. This house is a really mix of cultures. My host father is from Germany and my host mother from Malaysia and they have a little girl form Florida. We eat great food from Germany, Malaysia, Ecuador, and macaroni and cheese hahaha. I have a nice time with them. For me this is totally different because I have never had a little sister. I really have to say that there is a lot of fun moments as moments that I want to cry because I'm not patience enough. But I'm learning and trying.

Another part of my experience here has been Conny. She is a really cool person and just because she is almost like me. And now we are in the same school and I'm really having fun. I'm really going to miss her. The other day she proposed me with a bunch of flowers if I want to be her new sister. I know maybe is too much information for you but I think that this is funny.

Finally I want to thank the Rotary Club for every little thing that they have done for us. Every single trip has been wonderful, even if they never put me in the same room with Conny.

Thank you and I apologize for being so late with the report.

Maria (Belen) Horra, Ecuador.
