Coucou!
How is everyone? Well i am so happy to be here really :) I just spent a weekend in Brest, thats in the west tip of france. The place is beautiful! A host family of another exchange student invited me for the weekend and i had the greatest time ever. (Merci les Abgrall!!! Vous etes genial). I took the train - which really is cool- and two and a half hours later reached Brest, a big town all lighted with christmas lights. It was beautiful! they took me for a tour in town at night to see all the lights, and after we had dinner in their house. Saturday we went to Le marché de Noel, its sort of like whats in downtown Miami in xmas. A lot of local ppl set up little kioskos for selling stuff. After they took me to see different areas of Brest. The beach is beautiful, the coast is really broken up and wild, i felt like i was in a legend (of course that image was helped by the fog around). I got to see the ports and where the french marine base is. They even pointed out where the nuclear base is...kind of scary but hey! Sunday we went to a go-cart track! i got to compete against JB -brother in the fam-, and Andrea-exchange from Wisconcin- it was Rad! those little things are harder to maneuver than you can think! anyway we all looked funny with the jumpers we had to wear, but we had a great time. Later the dad took me into a surfing spot in brest!!!! i couldnt believe that there was one. It was great seeing the beach and waves again, eventhough it was cold. Anyway, i had an awesome weekend with them and now im writing to you all to let you know i'm alive and enjoying every sec. As for life in the families, is great! i changed families a month ago, and they are great. It was hard leaving the first family, i had gotten used to them and it really was weird getting settled in a new house and learning my way around, but i got to say that i understand why we change. my new fam is very different from the first one, and i guess i would had stereotype or assumed all the families in my region were alike if i had not seen anything else. Well i have 2 more families to go, so i got lots of learning to do!! The dad took me to a soccer match (Laval vs. Seth ; we won!!!) et il été genial! Nous avons mangé des saucissons et coca etc.... il été très bien :) I saw Harry Potter 4 in french! that was a bit weird, but i understood it, and thats all that matters! yey!! im doing alot of progress in the language now i just have to practice it more. well i gtg, i have class in 10 min. Take care y'all and see you in 6months!! i cant believe time is flying this fast! à bientot, Yireh RM + P.S. i ate snails! phew! they do look horrible, but i have to admit that they are pretty good with butter and garlic.... a very sad realization after thinking how weird the thought of eating them is. all about an open mind and closed eyes ;) |
