Vicky's First Report

Public speaking for Rotary meeting etc. attend or listening visits if any:

In Rotary meeting, I only introduce my name and where I come from. It almost my host father introduces me. There are some speeches in Rotary meeting. I joined Rotary meeting two times. First time, a Rotarian introduces my host club-Weston website. Second time, I couldn’t remember, because I didn’t understand what the speaker is talking about.

In orientation that is for all exchange students and host families in my host district, I introduced myself, my sponsor, and host club. In this meeting, I listened to my district chairman speech. He told us Rotary youth exchange student rule, this district rule, and some exchange student experience before. This meeting is very important and helpful for me. In another meeting that is my host district Rotarian meeting. They invited exchange student to join this meeting. I introduce myself just like last orientation. And the Rotarian asked some questions to us. The questions are about our school and language.  

Describe your daily activities at present (School, Private Invitations etc.)

I wake up at 6:15 and I eat breakfast in my host family. And then, my neighbor or my host mother drives me to school. The class is start at 7: 45 and each class is 90 minutes. I have 4 classes everyday and everyday schedule is same. My classes are TV-production , PE , Pre-Calculus and ESOL. The school is from 7: 45 to 3:00. I joined 2 clubs after school. These 2 clubs are Interact club and film club. Because I am Rotary youth exchange student, I have to joined Interact. This is my responsibility and obligation. When I didn’t have meeting, I always take bus home. At home, I do my homework, review what I learned in the school and prepare for quiz. When I finished my homework, I usually listen to the music, watch TV, read newspaper or help my host mother to prepare dinner. After dinner, I help my host mother to clean the kitchen. In the evening, I walk with my host family and their dog sometimes. I take the shower, wrote diary, read book and used Internet in the night. And I usually went to bed at 9 to 10. In the weekend, I went to beach, movie, shopping and temple with my friends or my host family.  

Total Impression of this month:

I arrived Florida about one half months. I very like here. My host family, host Rotary club and school are very, very nice. My host family is very good. Everything is very different for me, and they help me to adapt quickly. They also accept me who came from another country girl.

My school is very big. And there are about 5000 students in my school. My classmates and my teacher are all very nice. When I don’t understand, they helped me a lot. There are many students who are form different country in my school, so I also meet some friends from many different country. I watched football game in my school. I didn’t understand the ball game. I felt the students all very crazy. But this is my first time watched football game, I felt exciting and novelty.

The Rotary meeting in here is very different from Taiwan, because here meeting is in the morning from 7:30 to 9:00. The Rotarian are very friendly and nice. They told me, joined Rotary meeting is for free breakfast I knew they just kidding, but I really like the breakfast that they prepared. In the end of Rotary meeting, they have happy five and draw lottery. happy five is, if you want to talk to everyone something, and you need to pay five dollars.
