Sonja Reports on the Bahamas Trip

May 10, 2006

Hey Guys,

It is time for a new report. Yesterday evening we came back from the Bahamas and I am still in Miami . Tonight I will return home because tomorrow I have a band concert. I am staying with Robert’s family and just came back from shopping.

The Bahamas were so amazing and wonderful. We had so much fun. We left last Thursday in the late evening and were picked up at the Freeport airport by our short time host families. Conny, Robert and I stayed with David who is the Lucaya Rotary Club president. The first evening we went to the movies.

On Friday morning we slept in and went to the Dolphin experience in the afternoon. We got to pet a dolphin and got a kiss. The dolphins were so friendly and seem always happy. We went to a hotel beach afterwards. The sand was as white as you can imagine and the water wonderful clean and not to cold. We had dinner with our host famlies and went to Port Lucaya in the evening. Port Lucaya is a tourist place/plazas with a lot of clubs. We stayed there until 1.30 a.m. . This time Vicky, Ilaria, and Lorina came with us and stayed over because there host families lived to far away.

On Saturday we went out with to boats (David’s and Mike’s who is the Freeport Rotary Club president). We went out to Peterson’s Cay. This is a small island with a wonderful beach and a coral reef on the other side. There are no houses on the island and you can only get there by boat.

Adam my host brother came with a Jets Ski to pick us up. We went to one of the Pirates of the Caribbean ship that was used in the second movie (the movie is coming out in June or July). Adam worked as crew member and is now looking for the boat. He brought us all on board and we where allowed to take pictures. On Saturday evening we had a BBQ and a party in David’s house together with our host families. The food was really good. We were not allowed to go out after the party because it was to late so we stayed home and watched a movie.

On Sunday we went to Port Lucaya (again) but this time to go shopping and to spend the leftover money. At 3 p.m. we went to the airport because our time in the Bahamas was nearly over. We had to say good bye to all the people we met.
The security checks were really strict but at the end we all made it through. We returned home with two different airplanes.

I want to thank you all the people who made this trip possible, especially Just Pat and Peter who came with us and all the hosts and the people who helped organize the trip.

I will never forget it!

Now the life is going on and my time here is getting shorter and shorter. There is not much time left in school and I still cannot believe it.
