09th Monday - Belo Horizonte

For the exchange students traveling straight to Belo Horizonte, arrivals during all day until 18:00hs.

Please wear a Rotary shirt. Reception at the bus station/airport by our staff, transfer to the hotel and check-in. Important telephones:

Belo Horizonte - MG

12:00h – Arrival of the buses from Maringá and Londrina in Belo Horizonte.

12:30h - Lunch (not included). The students will be taken to restaurants near the hotel by one of our monitors.

16:00h – Arrival of the bus from Joinville and Curitiba in Belo Horizonte.

19:00h - Dinner (included).

20:30h - Orientation Meeting (we will give all the details and information about the trip). With the presence of Rotary International chaperones and the trip coordinator. Through this meeting you will be prepared to fully enjoy this fantastic trip.(Mandatory)


10th Tuesday- Belo Horizonte / Ouro Preto (Historical Town)

Breakfast (included).

07:30h - Departure to Ouro Preto (Historical and Cultural Patrimony of Humanity).

09:30h - Arrival in the charming Ouro Preto and the beginning of the cultural visits guided by expert guides to Inconfidência Museum, Pilar Church (second biggest church in Brazil in amount of gold), Tiradentes Square, São Francisco de Assis Church and its 17th century streets and mansions.

Through the streets of this charming and important Brazilian city, our walks will give life to ourcountrie’s historical past, still very real on each street corner. Magnificient view!

12:00h - Typical lunch of "comida mineira" (included). Delicious!


Ouro Preto

14:00h - Continuation of the rides and walks and also time to buy handicrafts and artifacts.

16:30h - Return to the bus.

17:00h - Leave to Brasília. There will be 3 stops to eat and to use the toillet.

 


11th Wednesday – Brasília

A Dream, a reality, Brasília!

07:00h - Arrival at the Federal Capital, check in and breakfast (included).

10:00h - Official visit to the National Congress, Senate, House of Representatives and Três Poderes Square.(where it is located the Planalto Palace, from where the president governs the country) (Dressed up in pants, shoes and trip t-shirt).

12:00h - Lunch (not included).

14:00h - Visit to the Ministry Esplanade, the gorgeous Brasília Cathedral, Juscelino Kubitschek Memorial, the Embassies area, the Army Ministry building and the famous temple of LBV (Legião da Boa Vontade), where we will visit the 7 tips pyramid with the biggest crystal found in Brasil.

18:00- Return to the hotel for showering.

12th Thursday - Brasília / Lençóis (Chapada Diamantina)

Breakfast (included).

07:00h - Leave to one of the largest and most impressive Eco-tourism reserves in Brazil: Chapada Diamantina - Lençóis. We will be able to observe the geographical diferences along the way. Beautiful!

23:00h - Arrival at Chapada Diamantina - Lençóis, check in, special snack (included) and good night!There will be 3 stops to eat and to use the toillet.

13th Friday – Lençóis (Chapada Diamantina)

Chapada Diamantina is a great nature show in the heart of Bahia. Huge, impelling and extraordinarily charming!

08:30h - walk to Ribeirão do Meio (natural slide), where we can go down a waterfall and fall into a natural pool. Amazing!


Pai Inácio Peak

11:30h – Return to the hotel and lunch (not included).

14:00h – Trekking at the Chapada all the way to Lençóis river, passing through Serrano and Salão de Areia Coloridas, where we can swim and know a little about the region's history.

17:00h - Return to the hotel

19:00h - Dinner (included)

21:00h – Time to know the charming little town of Lençóis. Great opportunity to try a typical northeastern fruit ice cream.


14th Saturday – Lençóis (Chapada Diamantina)

Breakfast (included)

08:00h - Get ready to a great day, full of adventures, swimming, hiking and exploring caves! Leave to Mucugezinho River, Diabo's Well, Lapa Doce Cave, and Morro Pai Inácio (mount with the best view of the Chapada). Bring your own snacks!

16:30h – Return to the hotel.

19:00h - Dinner (included).

20:30h - Capoeira's presentation. Capoeira Practicing classes after the presentation (included).

15th Sunday – Lençóis (Chapada Diamantina) / Maceió

Breakfast (included).

08:00h – Leave to Maceió. Beach!!! Our hotel is located in front of the beach at the famous “Costa Dourada”, one of the most beautiful areas of the brazilian coastline, with warm green colored water and lots of coconut palm! Enjoy it!

22:00h - Arrival in Maceió, check in and dinner (included).There will be 3 stops to eat and to use the toillet.

Today is the first day at the beach! We will spend the day at the beautiful private beach of the hotel! Besides taking a sun bath and swimming, you can ride a horse and/or enjoy the “caiaque” in the natural swimming pools in front of the hotel (extra cost)

17th Tuesday - MACEIÓ

Breakfast (included)

08:00h – Day reserved to visit Gunga's Beach. Along this ride, we’ll get a boat at “Barra de São Miguel”, that will take us further on the sea, where the sand hills provide us with great natural pools. Excellent place to go snorkeling and Banana Boating (extra cost)

15:30h – Leave to Handcraft Fair of Pajuçara, passing through the “Palácio do Governo” and other touristic points of Maceió.

20:30h - Dinner (included).



Gunga's Beach - Maceió

 


 

18th Wednesday – Maceió / Natal

Breakfast (included) and check-out.

08:00h - Leave to Natal, passing through Pernambuco, Paraíba and Sergipe until we arrive in Rio Grande do Norte!

There will be 1 stop to eat and to use the toillet.

17:00h - Arrival in Natal and check in.

20:00h – Dinner (included).

 


19th Thursday - Natal/ Genipabu Beach

08:00h – Leave to cultural city-tour visiting the “Forte dos Reis Magos” (1598 – It was occupied by the dutchs between 1633 and 1654. It has a shape that reminds of 5 tips star and sea view.


Genipabu Beach

Following, we will leave to Genipabu beach where we will spend the day. We can go "Buggy" riding through the famous sand dunes, horseback riding, jangada sailing and also the exotic camel ride (extra cost). Amazing day!

17:00h - Return to the hotel.

19:30h – Typical Northeast Dinner (included).

20th Friday – Pipa Beach

Breakfast (included)

08:00h Leave to the wonderful Pipa Beach, located one hour and a half from Natal. At the beach the teenagers from the Northeast spend the holidays in their cosy parents´ house beach, frequenting the charming village with small gourmet restaurants and handicraft stores.

Here you can get a boat to see the dolphins (extra cost). Beautiful!

16:00h – Return to the hotel for a nice shower!

20:00h – Dinner (included)

Pipa Beach

 


21st Saturday - Natal/ Fortaleza

Breakfast (included) and check-out.

08:00h - Leave to Fortaleza, crossing the Northeast sertão with a exotic landscape and very different from the rest of the country.

There will be 1 stop to eat and to use the toillet.

17:00h - Arrival in Fortaleza and check-in.


20:00h – Dinner (included)

21:30h – We will visit the big and great Handicrafts Fair of the Meireles beach, focusing the charming and beautiful sleeping hammocks of Ceará. One of the biggest handicrafts fairs of Northeast.

Fortaleza

 


22nd Sunday – Fortaleza

Breakfast (included)

08:00h – Time to go to the laundry and to go to banks.

09:00h – Leave to Lagoinha beach, located one hour and a half from Fortaleza. One of the most visited beaches of the south coastline due to its water beauty.

15:00h – Return to Fortaleza.

20:00h Dinner (included)

23rd Monday - Fortaleza

Breakfast (included).

08:00h- Time to pick up the laundry

10:00h - Leave to "Future’s Beach", located 20 minutes from the city. It is the young people favorite hang out spot. A beautiful 20 km long beach.

13:00h - Return to the hotel.

15:00h – City Tour. We will leave to enjoy the nice beach shore, visiting the "Dragão do Mar Cultural Center", where the Contemporary Art Museum and the "Cearense Cultural Memorial".

Afterwards we will check the wonderful view of the city and also try to see some dolphins from the "Metallic Bridge"; great time for a Brazilian tropical fruit ice-cream.

Ski-bunda - Fortaleza

 


24th Tuesday – Fortaleza

Breakfast (included)

09:00h - Leave to Cumbuco Beach, located 1 hour and a half from Fortaleza, one of the most visited south coast beaches, due to its beauty and also to "Buggy" riding through the famous sand dunes.

Today you will have lots of fun with two great activities! “Buggy” riding trought the sand dunes stopping at a lagoon to do “skibunda” (slid in the sand dunes with a board until you fall in the lagoon!!!) (included)

Here you will also have a great and beautiful horse riding along Cumbuco´s Beach! (included)

16:30h - Return to the hotel.

19:30h - Dinner (included).

25th Wednesday - Fortaleza / Recife

Breakfast (included) and check out.

08:00h - Leave to Recife.

21:30h - Arrival in Recife and check in.

26th Thursday – Recife / Porto de Galinhas

Lots of sun, awesome beaches, a huge sea with warm waters and the usual excitement, fun and happiness! That’s what Pernambuco is all about!

09:00h - leave for one of the most gorgeous Brazilian beaches:

Porto de Galinhas

Warm, green and clear water and natural pools filled with colored fish.

Excellent choice for snorkeling (activity done only during the low tide) and relaxing “jangada” (regional boat) riding.

Near Porto de Galinhas, walking on the beach, you will arrive at Maracaípe´s Beach, excellent for surfing where the experienced students can rent a board and surf. For those who don´t have experience, body boards will be available to enjoy the waves of one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil.

Adventure Tourism: diving: excellent place for diving. Natural swimming pools for beginners and for those who have the certificate, diving until 14m. (extra cost, check with the general coordinator of the trip)

In Porto de Galinhas, there is a very charming village with lots of gourmet restaurants and handicrafts stores. Show!!

16:30h - Return to Recife.

20:00h – Dinner (included).


27th Friday - Recife

Breakfast (included)

08:00h - City Tour in the Brazilian Venice passing by the “Recife Antigo”, Sculptures Park, Republica Square, “Marco Zero” (downtown) and also visiting the House of Culture, old jail that today is a handicraft market. Beautiful!

12:00h- Lunch (not included)

14:00h - Special visit to the atelier of the exotic artist Francisco Brennand.

It’s an exposition in a big saloon. The art is made in ceramic and there are also huge monuments in open space.


Olinda - Recife

Right after we will visit the Ricardo Brennand Institute. The buildings remember a medival castle in a beautiful view. There is also a pinnacle for temporary exposition and a great file about the Dutch occupation in Pernambuco.

17:00h - Visit Olinda (Historical Patrimony of Humanity), with its mansions and streets from the XVII century, where the most cheerful and beautiful Brazilian carnival takes place. It is know as one of the most pretty historical cities in Brazil. There, the "Frevo" dance and music rules!
20:00h - Dinner (included).

28th Saturday - Recife/ Salvador

Breakfast (included) and check out.

08:00h - Departure to Salvador.

There will be 2 stops to eat and to use the toillet.

29th Sunday – Salvador

09:00h - Leave to “Modelo Market “ (excellent market with handicraft and capoeira performances). Located at the “lower city” passing through the wonderful sea shore of Salvador.

Going for a walk to the historical center of PELOURINHO, we will take the "Lacerda Elevator", with its 72m high, connecting the "lower city" to the "higher city".

From the top of Lacerda Elevator you will see one of the most beautiful landscape of the city: “Baía de todos os Santos” and Itaparica Island on the back!

14:00h – Through the streets of Pelourinho you will find history, art and party…

Visit the Pelourinho, district with historical buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, with its famous narrow streets; it is where the first Brazilian medical school was founded; we can also see the great "São Francisco de Assis Monastery" (1587), which has the biggest amount of gold in Brazil, beautiful paintings from the illusionist baroque and Jorge Amado´s Museum, a famous brazilian writer. Once in the old city narrow alleys we will get in touch with vibrant rhythms such as "Axé Music", "Samba-Reggae" and "African-Brazilian Music".

We will watch 180º movies – Bahia Experience – that shows a little of the state of Bahia and its beauty.

 

The local lifestyle and its culture allow us to live, as a native, this unique experience – a district inhabited basically by black people descending from the slaves of the colonization period.

Curiosity: The name “Pelourinho” was named after the columns where the slaves and criminals were beating up until the end of 19th Century. The pelourinhos are out of order since the slavery abolition.

Visit the "Dique do Tororó", place where the scuptures of the 7 orixás are located.

At the "Mercado Modelo" and the pelourinho small shops you will find the authentic "capoeira" pants and also the genuine "Berimbau" (Capoeira Instrument).

30th Monday - Salvador

Breakfast (included)

09:00h - Visit to the important "Tamar Project" (Sea Turtle Protection Program) in "Forte's Beach". A great and successful step on the sea life preservation!

12:00h – Lunch (not included). Walk and have lunch in the beautiful village of Forte´s Beach, that has small “gourmets” restaurants and charming souvenir stores.

14:00h – We follow to the beautiful "Guarajuba Beach", filled with coconut trees! We will spend the rest of the afternoon under the nice sun and sipping some iced "coconut water"

17:00h - Return to the hotel.

09:00pm - Dinner (included). Presentation of the "Folk Ballet of Bahia". Forró classes!


Farol da Barra


31st Tuesday - Salvador

Breakfast (included).

08:00h – Leave to a wonderful boat ride to Frade´s Island. We will pass through lots of island of “Baía de todos os Santos”, stopping to showering at “Ponta de Nossa Senhora” (Frade´s Island). We will do a pic nic on the beach! (each one takes his/her own snack)

16:00 – Return to the hotel.

02nd Thursday - Porto Seguro

On April, 1500, the portuguese arrived in a whole new world across the Atlantic. The beginning of our history has transformed the south of Bahia, but lots of its beautiful scenery and the friendly people are still there, after 500 years, waiting for your visit! You can’t miss it!

10:00h – Time reserved to do laundry or if you don´t need it you can go to the beach with one of our monitors.


Group - Porto Seguro

Optional Activitie (Extra Cost):

Espelho´s Beach (elected the third most beautiful beach of Brazil): leaving by boat/”escuna” from Porto Seguro and sailing to the south coastline, we will arrive at the spectacular Espelho´s Beach, with calm water, natural pools and “falésias”.

14:00h - Visit to the historical city where the Mark of the discovery is, and the first Brazilian village was settled. Then we follow to the "Red Crown" Beach and to the "Santa Cruz de Cabrália Historical Park". "Red Crown" is the place where the "Pataxós" Indians live. They descend from the "Tupiniquins" Indians, who used to live there by the time Brazil was discovered. In "Santa Cruz de Cabrália" there is the cross that symbolizes the first mass that took place in Brazilian lands. It’s a history show!

03rd Friday - Porto Seguro

Breakfast (included).

09:30h – Leave to "Trancoso Beach". A true Paradise! Almost a desert beach, filled with coconut trees.

We can also stay at Nativos Beach with tents and where you can also go horse riding.

Next we will go to the calm and very charming Trancoso Village, where it is worth drinking a typical Brazilian fruit juice and visit "Quadrado’s Square", with beautiful native residents’ houses and cute hippie/stylish stores. It is, for sure, one of the most amazing views of the Brazilian coast!

16:00h - Return to the hotel. Free time to go shopping at Porto Seguro’s small shops, where you can find lots of authentic gifts from Bahia.

20:00h - Dinner (included).

04th Saturday - Porto Seguro/ Rio de Janeiro


Breakfast (included)

Free morning to take a rest at the hotel or leave to the beach, enjoying the lively leisure places of “Axé Moi”which gathers young and beautiful people from different parts of Brasil. With lots of music and fun, the "Lambaeróbica" and the "Banana Boat" are some of the attractions of this beach.

14:00h - Lunch (included).

15:00h – Check out.

17:00h – Leave to Rio de Janeiro.
There will be 4 stops to eat and to use the toillet.

 


 

05th - Sunday - Rio de Janeiro

Rio, incomparably sensual! Wonderful City! Welcome to one of the greatest cities of the world!

13:00h – Arrival through the amazing "Rio Niterói Bridge", check in and free time to walk in Copacabana Beach! Our hotel is located in front of Copacabana Beach!!!!

19:30h – Dinner (included). Enjoy this time going to the handicraft fairs of Copacabana Beach.

Attention!!! In case there is any football match at Maracanã Estadium, we can take you there to watch it! (extra cost)

06th – Monday – Rio de Janeiro

08:00h – Cultural Tour – Historical Rio.

City Tour on foot through the historical Rio de Janeiro, with specialized guides, walking through:

  • Lapa´s Arch;
  • Municipal Theatre
  • Tiradentes Palace
  • We will have a coffee at the very charming “Confeitaria Colombo”
  • Imperial Palace
  • N. Sra. Candelária Cathedral

During the afternoon we will visit the Samba´s City (place where the allegoric cars and carnival costumes)!
Samba classes writ some profissional teachers and member sof the samba school. Be ready!

Rio de Janeiro

21:30h – Leave to the sensational rehearsal of the Official Samba Schools of the Carnival in Rio! Lots of samba!!!

 


07th Tuesday - Rio de Janeiro

Leave to the most famous beach Ipanema Beach. Young "carioca" people sun bathe, surf, play "futivolei" and show the new beach wear fashion trends of the summer!

Go for a walk through the streets of Ipanema, visiting the stores that sells the real “carioca” fashion!

Optional program: bodyboarding lessons with Rio’s professional champions! (extra costs).


Rio de Janeiro

15:00h - Return to the hotel16:30h - Leave to visit the worldly renowned "Sugar Loaf Mountain trolley sky ride" from where you will have the chance to see one of the most extraordinary views of the city!

20:00h – Dinner (included)

21:00h – Dinner and Farewell Party at Hard Rock Café in Rio de Janeiro! (included)

 


08th Wednesday - Rio de Janeiro

08:00h - Leaving to visit the splendorous "Christ the Reedemer", with a splendid view of Guanabara’s Bay! Unbelievable!

Leave to the Sambódromo (where the carnival parade takes place), and then we will visit one of the largest soccer stadiums of the world, the Maracanã! Next, we will go to Tijuca´s Forest (the biggest tropical forest of the world inside of a city) Right after we will leave to the modern neighborhood “Barra da Tijuca”.


Pão de Açúcaer

21:00 Super Talents Show! (bring your country’s flag and also typical clothing, if you have them) and farewell confraternization get together.

09th - Thursday - Rio de Janeiro
