Catherine Changes Host Family January 22, 2006 |

Hello!!! How is everyone ???? hope everything is
goping on fine... well I had left off from changing families. Now that i
am with my new family i am so happy.. they are really nice and the other
day i didi colombian hot chocolate and they likjed it which i was glad to
see.... then yesturday we were talking with my host dad about my oldest
host brother going to a boat exposition and; cape canaveral and the nasa
and everyhting. so i said yeap, evryhting is in Florida, that is why you
must visit me.. and well i was thinking, hey there is a fishing museum and
swiming museum and evrything in dania or ft.lauderdale, somehwere around
there and i told him yeap, there is busch gardens, cape canaveral, orlando
, miami's wonderful turquoise beaches and even a fishing museum... and he
said oh the people that are in this fishing museum are all called fisher
(cause his , basically family's last name is fischer... but don't you
think i was trying to insult him or anything..) and i was like, no. why??
and then like 5 seconds later i realized the most embarrising mistake i
had done. thanks to my big mouth.... and i was like OH my God!!!! I AM SO
SORRY! i was so embarrased and i felt really bad but he just started
laughing and so i went along... but it was so funny... and i had no
intentions to imply anything, i was just thinking hmm... boat exposition,
many of those in florida, so fishing goes along with boats. and i was just
listing some of the nice things there is in florida but it turned out the
other way around..... ohhhhhh my goodness..... i just can't shut up
right??? and so that was one day. then last weekend it was actually
shinning and so we went (me and host mom and host mom's friend) to the Ida
tower and we went up the mountain..... it was very nice, the view was so
nice from the surrounding villages and a little bit windy and cold. but
turns out that in order to go up the Ida tower you must pay and well of
course we had no money with us, only 20 cents and so we said well lets
give it a try to go up for free.... and then host mom's friend said that i
was an exchnage student and that we were just going up the mountain but
since we reached the ida tower they wanted to show it to us but only 20
cents we had.... and the guy said sure, okay no problem go ahead... so i
went up i think like100 steps for free.... and it was wonderful.... then on tuesday it was pancake day. turns out evrything okay but! then to flip it it got stuck and the result...... black pancake,.. that goes for number one.... well i had to change 3 more times the pan. that menas 3 more pancakes lost, which was getting me very stressed cause i was thinking, evryhitng is okay..... i am doing it right but the pan i had no idea it was so messed up.... and then my host mom said oh well try the pan that we use for the vegetables, and guess what.... Yes! i could actually do it and it came out so nice and well it took me 1/2 hour to get to the right pan.. but when i finisheed they like the pancakes and even with the syrup and everything---...(i received a package from a friend with things my mom had sent me... that 's why i had pancake mix...); and so that was the first part... then there was a little bit of mix left to do, a very small one so my host dad said i would like to try...... and so of course the most weirdest pancake came out. He put alot of oil and then he put in the incy tiny bit of pancake mix,….. sot he pancake, if we can call it a pancake rather turned out to be a smashed crepe. Then when he put it in the pan the pancake mix spreaded through the whole pan and then it was basically floating on oil the poor thing,,, and so i started laughing and he too.. and when 5 minutes lateer to turn it ,…. It got stuck to the pan! Causehe didi’t use the pan that i had used…. And so apart from the floating fryying whaterver thing it got stucka t the end….. result…. Crepe or somehting relative to that area….. and so yes.. that was one of the most very funny days i have experienced….. so far it is project week in my school and i am doing a mosaic of a moon star and sun theme…. It is turning out really nice and im having a ot of fun doing it…. And that is basically it so far…… other than the most random things everyhting is going on great…… hope to hear from you guys soon!!! Sincerely, Cathy. |
