Marco Gets a Visit From Mikulas (Santa Claus)

December 6,  2004

Sziastok,
Well, I have been here for three months and four days, the time has flown by and last weekend I changed host family. Now I live close to the center of the city and my school is about ten minutes away walking.
The new family is really nice, the father, Miklos is in the Rotary club and my hostmother kinga, all together they have four kids! András is 25 years old and will get married soon, he and his fiancé live on a seperate part of the house, and there is Pánni who is 20 and she lives here too but during the week she is in Budapest at the university, then there are Kata who is 10 and Marci who is 7, they always want to play with me so I dont have a lot of time to practice guitar or study my Hungarian, but it is also good because I am learning hungarian from them because their vocabulary is much simpler and they speak slower.
The house is big too, and my room is two floors! on the top floor I have my desk and my bed and on the bottom I have a couch and the closets.
The only difference is that this family is really religious, and they pray very often, it doesnt bother me at all though its ok.
Well, Mikulas (Santa Claus) came late last night to deliver the chocolates! Christmas is a little different here, on the night of the 5th comes santa claus who only brings candy and chocolates and puts them in your shoes which you have to leave on the window, but he only leaves it if you clean and shine the shoes! On the 5th my hostfather got all dressed up in santa claus outfit for a service they were doing in church.
Then on Christmas Eve during the evening the angels come down and bring all the gifts and the crhistmas tree too! so we have to put up the tree while the kids are out! The only bed thing is that I am going to have to buy a lot of christmas presents!
so far I have been to: Budapest, Győr, Mateszalka, Debrecen, Szeged, and Szolnok in Hungary to visit my friends in the Rotary club on the weekend, and either this or the next weekend the Rotary club is taking all of us to Bécs(Vienna) to see it all decorated for advent. I am really excited!
This Wednesday I have my hungarian language finals for this semester, and I will also have a guitar exam! I dont really have time to practice since I am always so busy!
Since the computers in this house are all a little primitive they dont take my fotos from the camera so I will find other means!
take care!
viszontlatasra!
