Marco's Final Report July 8, 2005 |

It has started, not too long ago the first of our
big family had left already. Left to go back home, slowly one by one we
all leave the place we've been calling our home for the past year,
saying goodbye to the people we've been calling our family for the past
year and all our newly made friends. I've made great friendships with
the other rotary students from all over the world, I've learned a bit
from everybody else's culture and ways of life, and I can't
believe how quickly the time has passed by.
I love this place, the people are so nice
and I have had a lot of freedom in this school, and have also had the
chance to play in a couple of concerts, also on the year closing
concert, when I also received a gift from the school thanking me for
being with them, and also receiving a gift from the rotary club. On the
last lesson for the guitar I just started to cry while playing the
guitar.
I am pretty sure I have changed from the person
that i used to be, not just how i look but also how i look at things.
I've just returned from a trip around Europe, with
the rotary club of Belgium, and it was great! we traveled through czech
republic, austria, italy, france and monaco! it was a lot of fun and I
made really good friends with the other exchange students from other
countries and I plan on going to visit them in their home countries as
soon as I can.
I was able to make really good friends with
all the latin americans, like the brazilians, argentinians and the
mexicans too, but also the canadians were very nice. One of the best
things of this euro trip was being together on the bus when we were
traveling to out next destination, that was our chance to get to know
each other and relax together. The last day of the trip was very sad
because I knew that many of them I will never see again. It's very
difficult to say a goodbye to somebody you know you will never see
again, what do you say? have a good life?
This is my last day in my city, I've gone to visit
all my other host families and thank them for everything, I feel like
thanking them wouldnt be enough, but I am pretty sure that I will go
back and visit them someday.
I can't believe this exchange year has finished,
it feels like yesterday that I went to my new school for the first time,
and I met all my family members.
This has been the best time of my life! and I'm
glad that I had the opportunity to do it! thank you Roy joseph, Alba
weinman, Pal Oszvald my rotary exchange president in hungary, my hosting
rotary club Pécs, and my sponsor rotary club Ft. Lauderdale South. Of
course most importantly I'd like to thank my host families, and friends.
Also my family back home in florida that let me go on this exchange
year.
It's been great,
thanks again,
sincerely,
Marco Barbieri
