Marco's report!

March 16, 2005

sziasztok, Well I've been settling in with my new host family, it consists of the hostmother judit, her sister zsuzsi, her daughter dori, the father béla, and often the grandmother stops by. They live in the exact center of the city, probably in the best place available. they're much more layed back than my previous family, but just as nice. Yesterday we all just returned from Austria on a skiing trip! it was great. It was my first time ever going skiing. Well we started on thursday and by the time we finally reached the hungarian-austrian border my hostmother noticed that she didnt bring her passport! so we thought thtat if we went on we would not be checked, but we were so we had to go all the way back and get the passport, but the time we returned to the border they didnt check for our passports! aaaaah!  so anyway we went on until we reached the place and were taken up by a train that also took our car to a place called Bad Gastein, the view is very beautiful, the town is completely surrounded by the Alps. The next day, friday at 8 o clock we, my hostsister, a friend also called marco and I all went to the skiing place and bought a 3 day pass. I was really excited to be able to skii finally, we could not find an easy blue ski lane which is for beginners, and the only one they found was on the top of the mountain, no problem i thought....</DIV> until i got there on the tip of the mountain and i looked down and saw how steep it was! then i changed my mind... well they taught me to do the triangle and how to turn, well skiing is brutal i have to say, after that day all the muscles were hurting, and some i didnt even know that i had! it was really bad when i skied up on the mountain on the first day and i would fall down and the skiis would fly off and i would have to attempt to put them back on on a 45 degree angle! AAAAAAAAA! It is so frustrating!!! on the second day fortunately they found a little "safe" blue skii lane for me on the bottom of the mountain, i stayed there the whole day and by the end I was already getting better. On sunday which was the last day I gathered my courage and went up to face my enemy.... the mountain! and I made it all the way down with falling down just once! on the following the in the morning we all packed up and went to Salzburg, which is world known for being the birth place of mozart! the city is really beautiful and in front of all the stores there is a sign sticking out saying what it is just like old times. we didnt stay there for too long because we had a very long and boring trip ahead of us! on the way back they also didnt check for our passports! all together it was about 6 to 7 hours long and the view became very boring! Finally the winter seems too be over!!!!!!! I have sincerely forgotten how good it is! I am so accostumed now to put on layers of clothes before going outside! now its much warmer! i am so happy! During the Easter break my host family wants to take me to lake Balaton which is the Hungarian Sea. I m sure it will be nice. i have been here already seven months! the time is almost over! its too fast. viszlat!
