My First Report

August 31, 2004

First couple of Days. Well, so how about we start off from the time I left Florida, shall we? Ok so me and Therol left together, in the same plane!!! Washington D.C was our first destination, and we didnt get to do much there, except get a bite to eat, soon after we where on the plane to Paris! It was about a 7 hour flight, and I couldnt sleep at all, but I got to meet a few of the other outbound students that was seating next to me, it was a fun but tiring flight, as we arrived in Paris, me and Therol said our good byes. So basically I was left with all the other outbounds that were going to Lyon, accompanied by the French Rotarians, who where very helpful and nice. We had to wait in the airport of Paris for about 7 hours =/ it was very tiring, but in the other hand I got to meet the other outbound and become good friends, I guess you could say it was fun! Hmmm lets just skip to the part were I finally get to meet my host parents face to face. It was a very exciting and happy moment, and it didnt feel very strange at all, it was like they were family which ive known for years. After getting all the bags in the car, we left for my city Dardilly, which is about 20 min away from Lyon, it is a very small, but beatiful city. I was very tired, so they showed me around the house, they introduced me to my new dog, whos name is Doggie, at least that is easy to pronounce! Afterwards I went to sleep around 10 p.m, and I awoke at about 3 p.m so as you can see I was VERY tired! This week they showed me around the city of Lyon, which reminds me of Brazil, you see people walking around the streets, everyone interacting with each other, having fun. Everything is so close that you can walk anywhere you like, it is very much like Brazil, but of course the driving isnt as insane as it is in Brazil haha. I think it was two days ago, maybe three; it is very hard to keep track without my watch, which broke the day before I left =(. We went to celebrate my uncles 50th birthday, it was very fun! theres was music, dancing, FOOD, and the family! It is like the birthday parties in Brazil, which lasts forever, it started at around 7p.m and only ended at 3a.m wow it was fun. I became the D.J for a few hours, and let me tell you...it was fun! Today me, my brother and my mother went to my school to get my yearly books, and I believe that this year will be very hard! I got 10 book!!! Im going to take Math, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Space Science , Geography, History; French literature, and to give me a little break English and Spanish. Let me tell you...these books are not very lite! In two days I will start school, and I cant wait!

Im having lots of fun, and I am loving it here! Thank you Rotary for this oppurtunity! That is all for now, and I will report back when I feel it is time.

Oh and Im sorry I took so long to send this report, we where having some difficulties with the internet...But it seems to be working now. Miss you all! Love, Luis

P.S - As you can see I didnt use any apostrophe, these keyboards are very different, and you have to press an extra key to use it, and I really dont feel like doing it over and over again =/ I will send pictures soon enough.
