First Report August 17, 2004 |

I figured I'd wait until my first day of school
to send my report. The flight here was insanely long, and I don't want to
see or get on another plane until it's time to go back. Thailand is
amazing. I feel like a little kid again, there being so much to see. My
host family is very kind. They own a pharmacy, and their house is above
it. Traffic here is insane. It's almost as bad as it is in the states.
School is amazing. The students speak only a little english, but I'm
managing. Both the students and the teachers are very nice. Though I can't
understand all of what's going on, some of my friends are helping me out.
What surprises me is that you can sit in class and not pay attention and
the teachers won't care! Except the Falang teachers (Falang is a word used
to describe foreigners, but it's not offensive) They do care if you do
nothing. I'm gonna finish up now. Love to my family and friends! |
