ciao!! Uh...its been a little more then two months,seventy-nine days,1896 hours since my last rotary report and a couple of things have happened. For starters I found a new love in my life...VOLLEYBALL!! I'v never actually played this sport in Miami because..well I'm a wimp and I got tired real quick of getting bruises on my forearms from the ball smacking onto it. On other days I'm a teachers' assistant for a little kids volleyball class. There are about thirty some six to eight year olds in the class.Thankfully its only for an hour and half(believe me,even the sweetest grandmother would not put up with what these kids try to get away with.) On Wednesday evenings i get to talk on the radio with a few good friends of mine. The transmission is called"fuori dal planeta silenziosa"which if you directly translate it means, out of a silent planet. We mainly talk about American rock bands(for example:Metallica,The Police,The Red Hot Chili Pepers,The Cranberries, etc.)My job is to read off the titles, introduce the songs and add a few comments. Its actually a lot of fun, especially since I'm doing it with a two hilarious guys . I recently helped my host aunts' friend in her fashion show. She was short one girl and since I'm a little tall for the people here, she recruited me.In truth,i had a blast. My makeup was done by a New York make-up artist that just happen to be there that weekend(this was my first time hearing English being spoken correctly, since I'v been here). They also did my hair which in the process managed to squeeze out a few tears and even a couple of bursts of pain. There were seventeen girls in all and the show lasted just about three hours. A couple of days ago I went to my first Rotary orientation. It was held in Cagliri. All the students from Sardinia participated as well as the students south of Italy.Everyone had to introduce themselves in front of ten Rotarians and about fifty some Italian teens(they were there because they were finding out some information about the exchange).Later in the day we went on a trip to some old house that was built on some very old rocks taht were apperently important..as you could probably tell..i didnt extactly understated the whole story from the tour guide who did not speack a word of English. After that GREAT fieldtrip we ate and went home. On November 28,2003, I celebrated Thanksgiving...(yep..i know that Thanksgiving was on the twenty-seventh,but my host dad was not home so we had to move it up a day.)This was the first time my host mom as ever cooked a whole turkey and the first time as well for the butcher shop to have to order a whole turkey.I invited a couple of friends of mine overand my host mom invited a couple of hers. Some of them even gave thanks but i dont think that they understood the whole concept because they were giving thanks to me. In all,it was a pretty much entertaining night. Yep...well thats pretty much what has been going on since my last Rotary report...stay tune in for the next one. ciao ciao!! noemi |
