Hi everyone. Just thought I would write since I haven’t written in a long time. A lot has happened since the last time I wrote. As I found out I was switching families and my host brother is in my class I decided to change some of my classes to his classes just to make it easier during the times we have to go to school and to go home. I already had like 4 classes with him already so I only had to switch maybe 2. On of my switches was from computer to music. Yes I do music. When I went to the class first the teacher asked me if I can sing I said yea kind of. So we practiced with the class choir. I guess I was good because he didn’t tell me to be quiet. Also I found out there was a school choir and it was like a mandatory for us to join the school choir. The choir is so good. I think we are the best in my city. Well we found out that we would be performing at a Christmas party at an Old Folks Home. So we had to practice 3 songs 2 in German and one in French. And guess what??? I can sing all of them. Even the French one. I had a hard time at first but as I practiced I got them. The performance went well and our choir director was proud of us.

About 2 weeks ago they had a demonstration with all the schools in my city. It was about 1000 high school students all protesting about something. I really didn’t understand it but I think it was cool to participate. This was my first time participating in a strike or demonstration. It happened in front of the bus and train station so during the strikes we were stopping the straßenbahn´s, which are like the street trams. I even took a picture standing in front of the straßenbahn that we stoped. And it’s the same number line that takes me home. So it was fun. Also it was like a day off from school.

Last week Saturday I switched families. This is my third family for the year and I think it’s my last. My second family was only temporally until I found a new one because I had problems in my first and I had to move quickly.  But my new family is awesome. I new them very well before I actually moved in because the day my best friend asked me if I wanted to stay with him I went to meet his parents and they said yes. So about 3 times out of the week for about 2-3 weeks I went to them after school so they can get to know me better. So now that I am here they know my personality already. The day I moved I had to go on a tour of the Beck’s factory with the Short Term exchange students from South Africa. Yes I went there. The largest producers of Beck’s Beer in the world. And it was even cooler to find out Beck’s was founded in my city I live here in Germany. The tour of the factory was great but the best part was the 2 free rounds of beer. Of course it wasn’t good for me because I don’t like beer. Also one third of the beer in America is a Beck’s made in Germany. So when you buy a Beck’s next time see where it is made. Later on that night I had a dinner with my new host family. We went to this top of the line restaurant. The service was good the food was good and the best part was being there with my new family. Of course I have a mom and dad (and I call them mum and papa) then I have a host brother Julian who is 17 and was an exchange student in New Zealand last year. He is really awesome and he wants to visit me in summer 2004. Then I have 2 dogs Velvet and Bonny. I really love my family. School closed last week Thursday for me. I was so happy but yet sad because the exchange year is almost half way completed. I remember when I first came on the 19th of august and know I am writing this report on the 21st of December. It has been over 4 months since I have been here. I have done so much in this little time but yet it’s going to fast. This Christmas I am spending it here in my city and the same for New Years. So if I don’t write on Christmas I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
