| Hello Everyone.
I am in the Netherlands and I can speak the language pretty well. But anyway I had a few problems entering the country. It all started at the shipol airport were I had just arrived offf of an 7hour and 49min flight from Philidalphia. While walking through the terminal i was thinking "yes I am finnaly in the Netherlands." But little did I know that I was almost sent back home to the Bahamas. So I politely walked up to the imergration officer and he called another and then I had to sit on the side for a min because I did not have a visa. But the thing is the embassy in The Bahamas told me "baby u don't need a visa" but that was a women who said that. So I asked the officer what was the problem and he said to prepair myself for a long trip back to The Bahamas because i don't have a visa. So I told him well hold on boss man let me use your phone a lilbit (that's bahamain). So when I called my conselour Rudd de Jonge he told me to have no fear because another rotarian was the mayor of about four of the buuts (that's dutch for small villages). So he made the phone call to the mayor and the mayor made a call to the immigration officer's boss and all I know was in about 30mins after the call I was issued a visa right at the airport. The stupid thing about the visa is was that it was only valid for 15 days, but I don't have to worry because I already have a temporary residents permit. That was the worst day of my life, but now I am at the language camp and everything is going well. Right now I feel like a real dutch man now. i am having so much fun with the other exchange students. There are students from India, Estonia (I did not know that was a country), USA, Canada, Thiland, Japan, and Brazil. Everybody is getting on quite well, but I have a message for any other exchange students who will be traveling to The Netherlands "PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU GET A VISA BEFORE YOU COME." I hope everything is going well with all the other exchange students, so when you guys read this please e-mail me back so that I know we are on the same page and to keep in touch with one another. Any way I have to go now so tot zeins. |
