| Hey Rotary people,
exchange students, family, and whoever else is reading this, Weeeeelllll, I just wrote a report, but guess what, I have more to tell you guys!!!! I would just like to first say that Thanksgiving was extremely difficult. He, he, you talk about homesick. I for one was extremely homesick on Wednesday night and on Thanksgiving morning. It was a combination of the lack of sun, bitterly cold weather, and being away for the holidays. I was actually kind of anticipating this sudden wave of tears and a bit of depression, so I and my best friend over here, Laura (a Rotary exchange student from California), planned a Thanksgiving dinner for 12 of our closest American (and one Canadian) exhange students friends. Laura’s host parents were nice enough to let us have it at their house, and they let everyone spend the night afterwards. The dinner turned out absolutely amazing. Everyone brought something, but Laura and I cooked the main meal. We had everything, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, even a pumpkin pie. Everyone stepped out of their jeans for a change and dressed up a bit, and we all had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal. It really felt like Thanksgiving, and it was so great for all of us to have such a good Thanksgiving even without our families there. After the huuuuge meal and lots
of dessert, we all settled down in front of the TV and watched
American Pie and some other movies. It was kind of nice to have an
“American” weekend, and we made our little exchange family even closer. I
have to say that the exchange students in Belgium are very lucky to have
so many friends to choose from in such a small country. There’s no
way I’m ever going to meet all 250 or more exchange students, but
the friends that I have made are absolutely amazing. Ok, that’s it
from me, I hope everyone had an ok Thanksgiving, I hope no one had
too hard of a time dealing with being away from home for the first
family holiday. At least we’re all in it together!!!!! |
