Cher Rotarians Family and Friends,

I hope you excuse the tardiness of my report this month I have been "partout, partout" (absolutely EVERYWHERE) as they say here in Belgium. SO I will begin where left off. It was the beginning of January I think and I was about to change families and also was planning my best friends visit.

I did change host family the second week of January, and I came straight to the center of Brussels. The family has been great though I have had a communication problem with one of the new host parents. But I guess that’s one of the rotary experiences, compromising and learning to adapt.

Though I can say that due to previous experiences I have become a very fast "adapter" but this has taken a bit longer. There are just some things that don’t go with certain peoples' personalities and/or characters’ or that you just don’t find reasonable. But anyway life goes on and so far everything's OK. I have a new host sister and she is a really great person we get along very well. I can’t really use the internet or telephone as freely as in the other house but life goes on some people adapt and some people buy cell phones :) (B.T.W. that wasn’t the previously mention ‘communication problem’)

The house is incredible, they gave me three pieces (the whole bottom floor) and it can be very private(at times). Anyway I change families after Paques (Easter Holiday) or as we know it SPRING BREAK!!

After two weeks at my new house, my best friend came to see me and stayed for 10 days. We had an incredible time got to tour the city a bit and she got to know my friends and school here . It was really great to see someone from home though after she left I was a bit sad because our experience our year in Europe and our ten days had gone by so fast. It was so funny at the train station when she arrived we ran to each other and cried and when I left her at the train station again we cried and I jumped off of the train (I had gone into the train to help her put her enormous bag in and they announced that the doors were about to shut........)but it was altogether a vary happy time.

After she left I had a week of school which was actually no wok because we wrote and acted in a theater piece. That was really great I got to assist some courses and see how the small belgians: )came up and practiced their plays. I did have a part in the play which wasn't very serious though for it was a musical comedy I played a "coquette" which is actually a priss :) Funny no? I had a very good time though. And then the following week was Carnival. That was really great we had a weeks vacation and I pretty much spent it in Belgium. There was a party every night with my school friends and I can tell you guys I didn’t get any sleep at all but hey that’s carnival : ) : ) :)

We have had three weeks of school though the most part has been preparation for the Decroly Festival ( my school ) and next weeks its SPRING BREAK!!!!! I am really looking forward to it!! My aunt has invited me to Italy for two weeks and I will be leaving next Thursday!! I am really really excited I haven’t seen her in 13 years. I will be touring Italy which has been a dream of mine since I was little and I will be skiing too. I am really looking forward to this trip!!

Anyway if you guys only knew all the things that have happened to me here. Of course I was really upset when they happened but now I look back and laugh..........

For starters I am more or less ALWAYS lost I either take the metro in the wrong direction or the wrong train (one time I got lost for 6 HOURS) I am a horror at finding directions and last Friday I actually got locked into the metro station at 1 am!! That has to have been the most horrible experience so far. Don't worry I didn’t take the metro that late I actually took a taxi but the driver didn’t know my street so I asked him to leave me in a well known Plaza that’s 2 min. from my house. Well since it was really really cold I decided to cross the street through the metro way. To make a long story a bit short after the electronic doors shut I was a bit hysterical found a gate climbed up and jumped over I don’t know how it was possible but I couldn’t imagine sleeping in a metro station until 7am. Anyway that’s about it : ) So I hope to be more prompt the next time. Hope that everything is well.

Lots of hugs and kisses

Je vous embrasse:

Patricia
