W A R N I N G!!!! BE AWARE OF ALL DANGER SIGNS, DETAILS THAT MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH AND CAUTIONS THAT WILL CAUSE YOU TO COME TO A COMPLETE HAULT!SO ROTARY MEMBERS, FAMILY FRIENDS, EXCHANGE STUDENTS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE, YOU'D BETTER HURRY WHILE THE ALARMS ARE RED HOT!!! Shakespeare once wrote, 'All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances and one man in his time, plays a part', but what he did not mention was the 'take 4'part of this drama, where I play all different characters. First the shy school girl, then the wild daneaholic ,sometimes the 'Bahama Mama' oh and how could I forget, the clueless church member who only knows when to reply 'amen' Nevertheless, it is always wise to be attentive, that way they will never know that you are new to the game. Since my last report, I can truly say that I have had no time to relax or to even think about home. I am always being asked the question, "Are you missing home?" and I always reply, "Why should I, it hasn't even been a month yet. "and they seem so surprised. Roley you were right. There is no time to think about home. Before you know it home will be a reality and your exchange, only a dream. It's the type of situation when you want to re-live a dream but you can't, so every minute of your time counts. Okay so you probably want to know what the school systems are like here in Londrina. Picture this, your math teacher walks in the classroom, "Bom Gia!" then proceeds to teach, when all of a sudden there is slence and he says to me, "Demais chi mais seite egual que?" and there I am with a blank look on my face, so then he alters his voice even louder, "DEMAIS CHI MAIS SEITE EGUAL ..."I was without a clue: it wasn't that I didn't understand the math, I just didn't understand what he was saying because he spoke so fast. Then he burst into laughter and there I sat confused and disgusted because now I became the center of attention, but hey who doesn't like a little spotlight once in a while. That was my first encounter at Colegoi Canada.T hen my boilogy teacher Sr.Fru, walks in and right away he captures my attention, "Where are you from?" he asked. I was hoping that he would have mistaken me for one of the Brasilians from Bahia, a city to the northeast of Brasil, where alot of the dark-skinned Brasilians live, but my accent gave it all away; so I replied, "The Bahamas"and he said, "Ohhhhhh, well I have something special for you." He combs his hair back and starts to sway his hips slowly from side to side. "First jazz..., I am Mr. Fru, be bap shu wow and I want to welcome you ba do ba do ba de do... Now opera, (and he sings in a high pitched voice) I am Mr.Fru and I want to welcome yoooUUUUU!!! and now ( he embraces himself, bobs his head, and pretends as if he is at some disco, scratch- ing a hip-hop record) I am Mr. Fru,and I want to welcome you_ yeah, peace out! It was so hilarious, that I was gasping for breath. Even now when I think about it I have to laugh to myself. Eu realmente creo que ele e loco, muito loco em a cabeza.(smile) That made me my day even brighter and I tryly felt welcomed and loved. All of my classmates are really enthusiastic and excited about me being here. Of course the guys only want to know what you are doing Saturday night or when you can get together for a 'crash course' in the languge of romance, but the girls always want to assist me during intervals or converse about any and everything. Hey Lashando and Kamal, the Brasilian ladies simply adore you. They think that we are more than friends, they think we are 'lubers'. Yes I know what you are thinking, 'lubers?' but what they really mean is lovers hahahahaha!!! Did I mention that my first Rotary presentation has already been completed. Yes alredy. The members of my Rotary club were so stunned, that as I began to speak, their mouths dropped open in utter amazement and their eyes grew wider and wider. I was about to laugh because they all seemed like dull Rotarians that just sat there absorbing nothing, but the minute I opened my mouth to speak, they came alive and from then I knew that I had made an impact on t e Rotary Club de Londrina. The president was so impressed, that he awarded me with something very special, yes special indeed, a cigarette dish that read, Rotary Club De Londrina 2000\2001.Now wait just one minute, correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the four main rules no drinking, no dating, no driving and no drugs? Does this mean that he is encouraging me to smoke and wouldn't that me hazardous to your health? Bob I know what you are thinking! However,it was the thought that counted, and i was most appreaciative. I am so honoured to be apart of this programme and was able to display this dignity a week ago at the exchange student orientation. I spent the weekend with some of the most coolest, craziest and hilarious exchange students ever. We are so attached and have special nick names for each other. Well I am known as the Bahama Mama.
