| Dear Everyone, Caranaval was great!!! Definately an experience I won't forget!!!!!! The streets were packed for 3 days with people in some incredible costumes. My friend Anna the Bananna came down from Ermelo to celebrate with me. We went into the city every night of carnaval. Thats 3 days. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. We went into a cafe the first night and then walked around in the city. Then the second night we stayed outside the whole night. There was this cafe that was playing music on the street and where you could buy drinks on the street. The second night we happened to be dancing next to a nun. Actually it was a guy dressed up as a nun but it was really funny. He was using his cross to try to get babes and his beer as holy water. It was hilarious. The 3rd night I went out with Myra and some of her friends. We were at the same place outside. Carnaval ended at 12:00AM on Tuesday. They took down the statue of the Mascott and then most of the people went home. All the other nights we stayed out until 2:00AM. During the day there was also things to see. Sunday I got back from my rotary weekend in Lunteren and I was in the middle of madness. It was the beginning of Carnaval and there was a huge parade through the city. Its not a smart idea to walk in the middle of the city with a bag full of stuff in the middle of carnaval. It was really heavy and it was a pain to drag through the crowds. But, it was the shortest way home. On Monday there was the childrens parade. Even kids who couldn't walk were in it and dressed up. Everybody gets dressed up!! The first night I just put a tie on and my hawaiian shirt. The second night I sorta spiced it up a little.
I got these glasses and put them on. I put on face paint to look like a beard and a mustache. The third night I
don't know what I was. I borrowed this costume from Floor(My current host
sister). It was made to be a bird costume but it didn't work out that way for me.
It was a black and red robe with carnavals flags on the back. I bought this really funny looking hat and I
put on face make up and I had a feather boa with me. I have pictures. So you can see what I mean in a couple
weeks. Today I'm going to Utrecht for the night and I'm coming back tomorrow. I'm staying now with Hans
and Maria because my host mother is in Zwitserland with Babette (host sister). Floor is home alone. Shes
coming home on Friday and then shes going away for another week to Bangkok. Babette is going to stay home
with Floor or go to her dads. Thats whats happening on this side of the world. Hugs, |
